DESCRIPTION
The "Cabernets" spread in Friuli Venezia Giulia around the middle of the 800th century. The cuttings with this name were often a mixture of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménerè, and as such they were planted. In the historic vineyards in the region, these three varieties are still grown indistinctly on the same plot. At Attems, in the name of tradition, in the “Cleve” we have combined the nuances and flavors of these three vines in a delicate but characterful Cabernet del Collio.
Areas located between the plains and the slopes of the province of Gorizia, Capriva del Friuli (GO)
In thermo-conditioned tanks, the crushed grapes are pressed by hand at low temperatures during the first days of maceration, followed by delicate pumping over, in the number of 2 per day for all 15 days of maceration.
3rd passage French oak barriques and pièce, traditional concrete tanks. REFINEMENT TIMES: 12 months in wood, 6 months in concrete
Carmine red, bright with purple hues. The nose is intense and characteristic with aromas of black currant, blackberry blended with more herbaceous sensations of nettle, cedar and a hint of Carménerè that reveals itself as ripe plum and green pepper. Then come sweeter sensations of dark chocolate. The palate is lively and captivating with a fresh acidity that enhances the fruity sensations and creates an exciting contrast with already velvety tannins, in a long finish of wild herbs and red fruits.

CELLAR
Attems: a name that evokes the history of ** wine in Friuli Venezia Giulia **. In fact, the first document attesting the possessions of lands suitable for viticulture in Collio by the Attems dynasty dates back to 1106 and the production of [Ribolla Gialla] and Refosco is recorded in the ledgers of 1764.
A millenary tradition that has made this company the point of reference in the territory and which has seen Count Douglas Attems as a protagonist: he deserves the credit for having founded, in 1964, the Consorzio dei Vini del Collio, third in order of time in Italy and first in Friuli. Learn more
