DESCRIPTION
Merlot is a wine with a particular vinification: it remains eighteen months in second and third passage barriques; the micro-oxygenation that is created in barrique leads to a complete evolution of all its aromas. In fact, to the taste it is a full, structured, spicy wine, but at the same time it maintains a particular freshness.
Areas located between the plains and the slopes of the province of Gorizia, Capriva del Friuli (GO)
The crushed grapes, once separated from the stalks, are protected from oxygen until the alcoholic fermentation begins without inoculating the yeasts. This is followed by a maceration of about 15 days, with daily pumping over and punching down, carried out at 8-hour intervals. In the wine, after racking, the malolactic fermentation begins.
Barrique of third and fourth passage for 12 months. Before being bottled, the Merlot is aged for a further 15 months in traditional cement tanks.
Ruby red color, medium intense, with purple reflections. Strong aromas of black berry fruit, such as black currant and blackberry. Followed by floral notes of violet that evolve towards hints of fresh tobacco, aromatic herbs and a sweet vanilla finish. In the mouth it shows a delicate but balanced body with fine and elegant tannins. Beautiful freshness in the long finish with an aftertaste that still recalls wild berries.

CELLAR
Attems: a name that evokes the history of ** wine in Friuli Venezia Giulia **. In fact, the first document attesting the possessions of lands suitable for viticulture in Collio by the Attems dynasty dates back to 1106 and the production of [Ribolla Gialla] and Refosco is recorded in the ledgers of 1764.
A millenary tradition that has made this company the point of reference in the territory and which has seen Count Douglas Attems as a protagonist: he deserves the credit for having founded, in 1964, the Consorzio dei Vini del Collio, third in order of time in Italy and first in Friuli. Learn more
