DESCRIPTION
Produced with the same passion and attention to detail reserved for Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a real “second vin”. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, which combines immediate pleasantness and taste-olfactory complexity with a proven aging potential.
Location Ornellaia - Bolgheri - Castagnetto Carducci (Li)
The harvest took place by hand in 15 kg crates and the bunches were selected on a double sorting table before and after destemming and subjected to soft pressing at the end. Each variety and each parcel was vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at temperatures between 26-30 ° C for two weeks, followed by maceration for about 10-15 days. The malolactic fermentation began in steel vats, and ended after the transfer to barriques (25% new and 75% second passage). clarification. The wine was then subjected to a further refinement in the bottle for 6 months before being placed on the market.
The wine remained in barriques in the Ornellaia cellar at a controlled temperature for a period of about 15 months. After the first 12 months the assembly was carried out and then reintroduced into the barriques where it spent another 3 months. The wine remains in the bottle for six months before being launched on the market.
NOTES OF THE ENOLOGIST: “A miraculous summer and a sunny and cool September made it possible to reach the perfect ripeness of the grapes despite the difficult flowering, with wines that express a particularly elegant side. Le Serre Nuove 2013 shows an intense and lively color. On the nose it shows a bright and vibrant fruitiness underlined by delicate toasted notes. In the mouth the smooth and silky texture is striking with tannins of great freshness but without any edge.
