DESCRIPTION
Benefizio Riserva tells the story of Chardonnay in Tuscany. This variety was introduced in the vineyards of Castello di Pomino in 1855 and already in 1878 the Estate received the gold medal at the Paris Expo for the quality of its wines. In 1973 Benefizio was born from a vineyard located at an altitude of 700 m: the first white wine in Italy fermented in barrique. With the 2005 harvest Benefizio acquires the term "Riserva".

The Chardonnay grapes were harvested in boxes by hand with extreme care and attention. Once they arrived in the cellar, the pressing to which they were subjected was extremely soft and delicate, allowing from the outset a good extraction of clear must, further clarified after cold decantation. The musts thus obtained were placed in barriques, 50% new and 50% first passage, where they underwent alcoholic fermentation and only partially the malolactic fermentation.
Subsequently the wine remained in wood aging, on the lees, with batonnage carried out as needed. After a further period of refinement in the bottle, Benefizio Riserva has reached its maximum taste-olfactory expression in terms of elegance and harmony.
Elegance, finesse and body, these are the identifying elements of Benefizio 2018. Its is a straw yellow color with golden reflections, typical of a strong character. Its bouquet is delicate and persistent at the same time. The graceful aromatic variety impresses strongly due to the evolution over time. The notes of orange blossom, magnolia and broom soon give way to citrus, candied and dried fruit scents. The delicate spiciness together with the tertiary hints due to the refinement conclude this wonderful olfactory journey. Its structure is confirmed by the alcoholic note, perfectly balanced and harmonized by the freshness. The finish is long and persistent.
