DESCRIPTION

TIGNANELLO ESTATE, San Casciano in Val di Pesa (FI)
The climatic conditions of the harvest period ensured the possibility of harvesting the grapes with a qualitative level of absolute value. However, great attention was paid to the selection in the vineyard, in order to get perfect bunches to the cellar. As usual, great care was taken in the fermentation and extraction phases, carrying out delestages and pumping over in compliance with the varietal aromas and the high color content of the berries. For all three varieties, fermentation was carried out with average temperatures of 27 °, without ever exceeding 31 °, in order to preserve the best olfactory sensations and typicality of the fruit. Right from the start the musts showed considerable complexity but above all, in the case of Sangiovese, an intense varietal typicality in aromas, elegance and color, immediately presaging a year of great potential. After racking, carried out when the alcoholic fermentation was over, the wines were placed in new oak barriques, where they underwent malolactic fermentation by the end of the year.
They were then blended, rested for about 12 months in barriques, decanted and finally, after a careful tasting barrique by barrique, the wine was bottled. The introduction on the market took place after a further year of refinement.
Tignanello 2006, at the time of its introduction on the market, has a very intense ruby red color and fragrant notes of ripe red fruit and spices that express themselves on the nose with good balance. In the mouth it is rich, full and round, dense at the right point without masking the great elegance that distinguishes it and its complexity. It is a powerful wine, but fine and very pleasant to drink, with a good persistence and a dense aftertaste of chocolate and citrus notes. The tannin, sweet and velvety, is very present and this, together with the well balanced acidic level, ensures a great longevity to Tignanello.
