DESCRIPTION
A very current interpretation of the primitivo, the first Apulian wine among the best 100 wines in the world for Wine Spectator. Torcicoda is a Primitivo linked both to the rustic and rural scenarios where it was born, and to the fertility and wealth it represented for the families of the area so much so that in not too distant times it was even brought as a dowry by young brides. "Torcicoda" recalls, therefore, on the one hand one of the tools used by the factors for the care of horses, on the other hand the sinuosity and luxuriant nature of the shoots and leaves of this vine, also called "of the three vintages" for its fertility.
Masseria Maìme, San Pietro Vernotico (BR).
The grapes were harvested slightly overripe. After pressing, the maceration, managed with delicate pumping over and delèstage, lasted for about 13 days in stainless steel tanks. During this phase, the wine completed its alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature not exceeding 27 ° C and was then transferred to French and Hungarian oak barrels where the malolactic fermentation took place.
Torcicoda aged about 10 months in barrique and a further 6 months in bottle before being released on the market.
Torcicoda has an intense ruby red color with purple hues. The nose stands out for sensations of red fruits such as black cherry, cherries in alcohol and plum well in harmony with notes of licorice and delicate hints of candied fruit. On the palate it is soft and broad. A wine with good structure and characterized by a balanced and elegant tannic texture.

CELLAR
Passion, courage and confidence in the enormous qualitative potential of Puglia are the elements that prompted the Antinori to invest in this region, in particular in the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento. The basic idea on which the production philosophy of Tormaresca is based is that of producing great wines from indigenous Apulian vines. Most of the vineyards are cultivated with traditional grapes, some of which date back to the Magna Graecia civilization, and strongly rooted in the territory: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano Pugliese, Aglianico, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale L The Tormaresca company consists of two estates located in the areas most suited to the winemaking tradition of the region: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte DOC, immersed in the wild Bari Murgia and Masseria Maime in the Salento area, the beating heart of Puglia Read more
