DESCRIPTION
In the heart of the estate, halfway up the hill overlooking the Orcia river, in a moderately oblique point towards the south is the Poggio al Vento vineyard. The name literally means "hill exposed to the wind" and this aspect in conjunction with the particular composition of the soil produces the exceptional Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento. The dominant and elegant tannins present in the wine require a long and traditional aging in large oak barrels. After bottling, the wine needs another 3 years of refinement in the bottle before being presented on the market. Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento is produced only in the best vintages and represents one of the highest expressions of pure Sangiovese that can be found in Montalcino.
Poggio al Vento vineyard, Montalcino - Siena - Sant'Angelo in Colle hill overlooking the Orcia river.
Fermentation at a controlled temperature below 30 ° C. Maceration lasting 25 days in low and wide stainless steel tanks (greater contact between the skins and the must with greater polyphenolic extraction). Daily punching down in the morning, pumping over in the evening.
4 years in Allier and Slavonian oak barrels followed by more than 2 years of bottle aging, all in air-conditioned environments.
Color: Intense ruby red with slight garnet reflections. Bouquet: Inviting, enveloping and still youthful. The fruit of the great perfectly ripe Sangiovese dominates the intriguing spices of oak. Taste: Unique combination of power and elegance. Remarkable tannic texture but of great finesse. Leave the palate impressed by a myriad of pleasant sensations.

CELLAR
Col d'Orcia is one of the historic companies of Montalcino. Today's lineage dates back to at least 1890, the date on which official documents show that the Franceschi family originally from Florence bought the property, later known as Fattoria di Sant'Angelo in Colle. In early 1933 the Fattoria di Sant'Angelo in Colle presented its Brunellis at the "wine exhibition" (First Exhibition of Italian Wines) held in Siena, one of the first commercial activities presented in Italy, decades before the Brunello became a precious (first class) wine of international and world level.
