ESTATE GUADO AL TASSO, BOLGHERI CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI (LI)
The harvest began on 4 September with the Merlot and ended at the beginning of October with the Cabernet Sauvignon. The harvest in Guado al Tasso is done exclusively by hand and in 15kg crates. Once in the cellar, the grapes are checked in two moments: first on the sorting table the healthiest and most intact bunches are selected; then, after destemming, the grapes flow and are checked one by one, to ensure that only the perfectly ripe ones flow into the fermentation tanks. Like every harvest, the individual vineyard plots were vinified separately in many small harvest plots, distinguished by the characteristics of the grapes. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature, for 15/20 days.
After the racking operations, the best wines were decanted directly into new barriques, where they finished the malolactic fermentation. At the end of the first year of aging in wood, in French oak barriques, the best selections were assembled and then put back in wood for another 6 months before bottling.
Guado al Tasso 2013 is a wine of great finesse and elegance. On the palate it is more vibrant and silky than ever. In a basically cool year with such a long maturation, Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) has developed and brought to the wine notes of aromatic herbs, spices, mint and a crunchy tannin with a nice persistent taste. Merlot (25%) brought concentration and consistency to the center of the mouth, with intense and intact notes of plum and small black fruits. The Cabernet Franc (18%), very characterized, has brought elegance both to the nose and in the mouth and intensified the aftertaste with notes of cassis and licorice. Finally, the Petit Verdot (2%) combined very well, emphasizing the spicy component.

HOW TO SERVE

18-20 ° C

It is advisable to oxygenate in a decanter for at least an hour before serving.
You can cellar it for over 15 years if kept correctly.
Excellent as a wine for special occasions and with second courses based on red meats and game, it is more suitable as a meditation wine to be tasted in small sips.
