DESCRIPTION
Santa Cecilia is the flagship wine of the Planeta company, from the most important Sicilian variety: Nero d'Avola. The long search for the best place to make a great wine with this variety reaches Noto, the place of origin of this variety where the DOC Noto stands, at the southern end of Sicily. With its white lands and its ancient vineyards it is the epicenter of the cultivation of Nero d'Avola. Santa Cecilia is an expression of elegance, power, balance and exaltation of the unique aromas of the Sicilian lands, and today a reference point for reds from Sicilian native grapes.
Buonivini vineyard, Noto (SI)
Destemming followed by 21 days of permanence on the skins; after racking follows malolactic fermentation in steel.
Refine for 14 months in barriques
Purplish red tending to purple.A very spicy and fruity wine, bright and clear, scented with carob, bergamot and orange peel. The ripe and compact fruit on the palate melts very sweet and vigorous in accompanying a dense but open texture tannin and calibrated to the structure of this wine with deep and baritone notes. The epirheumatic and graphite traces give it features of a high gustatory lineage while the wild blackberry and cherry wisely extracted keep the wine on a register of great stylistic and tasting rigor.
HOW TO SERVE

It is advisable to let the wine 'breathe' at least one or two hours before serving it.
Aging potential up to 8-10 years.
A wine that does not fear the riskiest combinations such as marinated pork even with chilli or fish dishes with rich and fibrous meat. Recommended with anelletti timbale with meat sauce.
CELLAR
“For five centuries, through 17 generations, our family has been committed to following the paths of agricultural evolution in a complex land like Sicily, with an approach that is always oriented towards openness and innovation. Where too often the agricultural world has locked itself up in ancient patterns of social habits and productive practices, we have rather inherited, from generation to generation, an instinct aimed at changing and generating positive changes around us, in culture and among people. During the twentieth century it was grandfather Vito who demonstrated how, beyond the static management of land ownership, we should all move towards new solutions and new perspectives: he was the first, in Menfi, to try to transform our small family winery into a large social cellar which in a short time, under the presidency of Diego, was then transformed into a collective heritage and a model of territorial development. Simultaneously president of the regional institute of vine and wine, Diego played a leading role in the wine renaissance of Sicily, transforming it into a large laboratory of experimentation, with enlightened consultancy such as those of Giacomo Tachis, Carlo Corino, Giampaolo Fabris and Attilio Scienza.
