DESCRIPTION

It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The label was designed by Silvio Coppola in 1974, for the release of the 1971 vintage. It was at a 1973 dinner at the Castello della Sala that the name of Coppola came out. Graphic designer and designer, famous for his essential lamps, rigorous furniture, but also the covers of many Feltrinelli books, Coppola was the right name for that work. LAFIRMA: The Marquis Piero Antinori, current Honorary President, decided to have his father, Niccolò Antinori, sign the Tignanello label as a symbol of gratitude for the trust shown in him.

The delicate interventions of defoliation and thinning in the vineyard, which was followed by a careful manual selection of the grapes, ensured the vinification of grapes of good quality and varietal identity. During the fermentation process in truncated conical tanks, the musts were macerated with extreme attention to the freshness of the aromas, the extraction of color and the management of tannins aimed at sweetness and elegance. Once the skins were separated from the wine, malolactic fermentation was started in barriques, enhancing the finesse and pleasantness of the aromas.
Thus began the aging process which lasted about 12-14 months, in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly first passage. The different batches, vinified separately according to the variety, are raised in wood and then assembled a few months before bottling.
Intense ruby ​​red color with violet reflections, it has an intense aroma with notes of red fruit combined with pleasant aromas of sweet spice and undergrowth. On the palate the wine is vibrant and fresh with soft and compound tannins. It closes in a long and fairly persistent finish.

It is advisable to let the wine 'breathe' at least two hours before serving.
You can cellar it for over 25 years if kept correctly.
