DESCRIPTION

It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The label was designed by Silvio Coppola in 1974, for the release of the 1971 vintage. It was at a 1973 dinner at the Castello della Sala that the name of Coppola came out. Graphic designer and designer, famous for his essential lamps, rigorous furniture, but also the covers of many Feltrinelli books, Coppola was the right name for that work. LAFIRMA: The Marquis Piero Antinori, current Honorary President, decided to have his father, Niccolò Antinori, sign the Tignanello label as a symbol of gratitude for the trust shown in him.

The 2015 harvest, regular in its course, will be remembered for the harvest of completely healthy and ripe grapes, thanks to very favorable climatic conditions throughout the season. Nevertheless, the attention was very high, both in the vineyard during the harvest operations, and in the cellar when the grapes arrived, where the selection and the first processing represented an added value for the optimization of quality. During the fermentation process in truncated conical tanks, the musts were macerated with extreme attention to the freshness of the aromas, the extraction of color and the management of tannins aimed at sweetness and elegance. The racking took place only after careful and daily tastings. Once the skins were separated from the wine, malolactic fermentation was started in barriques, enhancing the finesse and complexity of the aromas.
Thus began the aging process which lasted about 14-16 months, in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly second passage. The different batches, vinified separately according to the variety, were raised in wood and then assembled a few months before bottling. The wine, mainly produced with Sangiovese grapes and a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, aged for a further 12 months in the bottle before being introduced on the market.
Tignanello 2015 has a very intense ruby ​​red color. On the nose the notes of ripe red fruit, black currant and blackberry, are in harmony with the hints of chocolate and licorice. On the palate it is rich, enveloping and vibrant, with silky and lively tannins that give the wine great complexity and length on the finish.

HOW TO SERVE

18-20 ° C

It is advisable to let the wine 'breathe' at least two hours before serving.
You can cellar it for over 25 years if kept correctly.
