DESCRIPTION
This wine takes its name from Ca'Marcanda, the winery. Ca'Marcanda is the Piedmontese term for “house of endless negotiations” and refers to the many hours that Angelo Gaja spent convincing the previous owners of the property to sell him the estate. This vineyard comes from one of the stonyest sites of the Ca'Marcanda estate in Castagneto Carducci (Bolgheri). Its 100% white soils ideal for the production of long-lived wines. This is the flagship wine of the winery and is produced only in exceptional vintages, guaranteeing quality and certainty to buyers and collectors.
CA 'MARCANDA, Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri (LI).
The varieties ferment and macerate separately for about 15 days.
After 18 months of aging in oak, they are assembled and then refined for a few months in the bottle before being put on the market.
Intense ruby red. The nose is a triumph of eucalyptus rose and Mediterranean scrub on a background of small berries. Silky tannins and absolutely balanced freshness and good minerality. Very persistent.
