DESCRIPTION
Notes from the winemaker
A harvest of extraordinary value, characterized by a cooler climatic trend and with light rains compared to the 2015 vintage. A season in which the balance of a land is reflected in the wine. A harmonious expression of Solaia with multiple shades. A slightly more shy, introverted wine, in some respects even more fascinating, if compared with the previous vintage, but capable of telling itself now as in the years to come. With a very intense ruby red color, Solaia 2016 stands out on the nose for its intensity and aromatic richness; notes of ripe dark fruit, in particular blackberry and blueberry, combine with balsamic sensations of aromatic herbs and mint; sweet hints of cocoa and cotton candy alternate with spicy notes of white pepper giving the bouquet freshness and complexity. On the palate it is rich and enveloping with soft and silky tannins capable of transmitting elegance, character and an excellent expression of the fruit. The vibrant, long and very persistent finish reveals a remarkable aging potential.

The Antinori family has been dedicated to wine production for more than six hundred years: since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Florentine Art of the Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, through 26 generations, the family has always managed this business directly with innovative and sometimes courageous choices but always maintaining the respect for traditions and for the territory unchanged. Today the company is chaired by Albiera Antinori, with the support of the two sisters Allegra and Alessia, who are personally involved in the company's activities. The father, Marchese Piero Antinori, is currently the Honorary President of the company. Tradition, passion and intuition were the driving qualities that led the Marquises Antinori to establish themselves as one of the main Italian producers of high quality wines. Read more
