DESCRIPTION
This wine takes its name from Ca'Marcanda, the winery. Ca'Marcanda is the Piedmontese term for “house of endless negotiations” and refers to the many hours that Angelo Gaja spent convincing the previous owners of the property to sell him the estate. This vineyard comes from one of the stonyest sites of the Ca'Marcanda estate in Castagneto Carducci (Bolgheri). Its 100% white soils ideal for the production of long-lived wines. This is the flagship wine of the winery and is produced only in exceptional vintages, guaranteeing quality and certainty to buyers and collectors.
CA 'MARCANDA, Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri (LI).
The varieties ferment and macerate separately for about 15 days.
After 18 months of aging in oak, they are assembled and then refined for a few months in the bottle before being put on the market.
The 2015 Camarcanda leads to a precise and straightforward character. The nose opens with earthy and balsamic notes of violet, roots, bark and sap. On the palate it is rich, with concentrated and crunchy notes of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, flint and blood orange. The finish is savory, almost fleshy, with a precise note of iron that lingers in the aftertaste. Fine-grained tannins, embraced by a soft body with a strong personality. The backbone of this wine is the solid structure perfectly balanced by the concentration of fruit. Considerable aging potential.

Great-grandmother Clotilde Rey encouraged Angelo, the second generation of the family, to focus on quality production as early as the early 900s, when times imposed that economic rigor that led to making quantity the watchword of many producers, as he continues. to happen in our times, by the way.
