DESCRIPTION
Monfortino is certainly one of the terms of comparison used by those looking for great wines for evolution. Produced in the heart of the Langhe is the fruit of Nebbiolo grown in the traditional way in the Vigna Francia of Serralunga d'Alba, where the Conternos also grow Barbera.
Monforte d'Alba (CN)
After a meticulous selection of the bunches, the first fermentation takes place in 61-hectolitre oak vats, with long macerations, even with submerged cap, as per tradition.
Subsequently the liquid is moved into large wooden barrels, mainly of Austrian origin, where after malolactic fermentation, it ages for about six years before bottling.
It is presented in the glass with a bright and iridescent garnet red colour. The nose is a poignant portrait of Langa, which is revealed gradually and in a whispered way. Dog rose, violet, cherry: there is everything in this hymn to classicism, although talking about descriptors is almost an understatement given the harmony and cohesion of the perfumes. The taste is experiential, a real cyclone that conquers the palate filling it with grace and power at the same time. The displacement of the liquid allows it to go very far fading into an eternal persistence. To drink, at least once in a lifetime.

CELLAR
The Giacomo Conterno company is one of the wineries which more than others have marked the history of fine Piedmontese wine and which has made the magical territory of the Langhe most famous: every descendant of the Conternos has placed in this reality a fundamental piece for the history and for the prestige that the company deservedly enjoys worldwide today. It was the beginning of the 900s, when Giacomo Conterno set up the winery in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. Son of historic local winemakers, Giacomo began making wine with Barolo, which at the time was sold loose in demijohns. Read more
