To go back to the origins of Ruffino's history, one must go back to 1877, when the Tuscan cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino discovered a vocation and a non-trivial ambition: to produce the ideal wine. Their project took shape in Pontassieve, a few kilometers from the sparkling Florence of the time, a few years before the provisional capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Ambitious, skilled and visionary, the Ruffinos had chosen a position favorable to transport for their winery, right astride the Railway - one of the very first in Italy - and this helped to support the cosmopolitan soul of the company at the time. Ruffino wine, modern and innovative, quickly made its way into the production of the time until it exceeded national borders in popularity.
