DESCRIPTION
In the Nero del Tondo, Pinot Noir meets the Chianti region. Courage, spirit of adventure and great winemaking experience were the elements that pushed Ruffino to plant Pinot Nero, a vine not very present in Tuscany, in his Chianti estates in the XNUMXs. Pinot Nero "Nero del Tondo" was born from a careful selection in field of the best grapes.
From the vineyards of Tenuta Poggio Casciano and from other vineyards of Tenimenti Ruffino, Grassina (FI)
Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted a total of about 3 weeks, in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. After racking, malolactic fermentation took place followed by refinement in small 225 l barrels. of French oak from Allier and Troncais, for about 12 months. Great attention is paid to the processing of the grapes in order to maximize their typical characteristics.
After a brief stop in stainless steel vats, the wine was bottled and further refined in the bottle.
Color: garnet red. Bouquet: very enveloping and intense. The notes of ripe fruit, red roses and nuts are intertwined with spicy sensations among which cloves, pepper and leather stand out to finish in a note of orange peel. Gustatory sensations: aging in small oak barrels gives the taste a spicy touch that evolves into an aftertaste of cherries in alcohol and tobacco.

CELLAR
To go back to the origins of Ruffino's history, one must go back to 1877, when the Tuscan cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino discovered a vocation and a non-trivial ambition: to produce the ideal wine. Their project took shape in Pontassieve, a few kilometers from the sparkling Florence of the time, a few years before the provisional capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Ambitious, skilled and visionary, the Ruffinos had chosen a position favorable to transport for their winery, right astride the Railway - one of the very first in Italy - and this helped to support the cosmopolitan soul of the company at the time. Ruffino wine, modern and innovative, quickly made its way into the production of the time until it exceeded national borders in popularity. Read more
