DESCRIPTION
From this plot, which has always been known by all as Montesodi for the stony nature of the soil, the first Cru of Chianti Rufina was born in 1974. It represents the wine of my youth and my best memories at Castello Nipozzano, a Sangiovese of extreme elegance and vivacity, capable of moving me even after decades.
NIPOZZANO CASTLE, MUNICIPALITY OF PELAGO (FI)
Maturation on the skins for 30 days. Immediately after the alcoholic one.
30 hl Austrian and French oak barrels 18 months in cask and 6 in bottle.
Montesodi 2013 is a wine with an intense ruby red color; the balance between the floral notes of violet and the fresh spicy and balsamic notes is surprising. Hints of bergamot and candied bitter orange. In the mouth it is fresh, complex, balanced and the tannins are integrated with the body of the wine which on the palate is velvety, but with the characteristic slightly scratchy texture of Sangiovese. The acid component is more important than the norm and the sensations of freshness prevail over the softness, however well supported and contrasted by a generous body. The finish is dominated by hints of berries such as blackberry and raspberry and a slight hint of licorice on the finish.
HOW TO SERVE
18-20 ° C
Let the wine 'breathe' at least two hours before serving.
You can cellar it for over 10 years if kept correctly.
Excellent with short-cooked red meats, it goes beautifully with Florentine steak.
