DESCRIPTION
The result of continuous research in the vineyard and in the cellar, the Villa Gemma Riserva is born from 100% Montepulciano grapes harvested by hand from a single vineyard with a very high plant density. Powerful and elegant, it reveals great expressive power and extraordinary aging capacity, with full and explosive aromas that evolve in a surprising way over the years.
S. Martino S. Marrucina (CH).
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks until 1996 and wood since 1997, since 2013 in stainless steel.
Aging for 36 months, 18/24 in barriques, then 2/3 years in the bottle.
Ruby red. Intense and complex bouquet with hints of blackberries and black cherries, cocoa, menthol and pipe tobacco. Caressing on the palate, soft and fresh, with great balance. Very persistent.
HOW TO SERVE
18-20 °C (77°F)
It is advisable to let the wine 'breathe' at least one or two hours before serving it.
You can cellar it for over 15 years if kept correctly.
Ideal choice for second courses of meat and game or aged cheeses, it amazes at the end of a meal if accompanied by a dark chocolate dessert.
CELLAR
Masciarelli Tenute Agricole was born in 1981 from the entrepreneurial intuition of Gianni Masciarelli, a symbolic figure of the Italian wine scene and protagonist of the affirmation of modern Abruzzo viticulture. The beating heart of the winery is San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti, and has vineyards and olive groves owned by the 4 provinces of Abruzzo. Gianni Masciarelli inherits from his maternal grandfather Umberto the passion for the vineyard and for wine and begins his first experiments with grapes at a very young age, animated by a great dream: to enhance the native Abruzzo vines, giving them an international character but enhancing their link with the territory. The expression that best describes the figure of the winemaker Gianni Masciarelli is “continuous innovation”. It is in fact the first producer to introduce the Guyot training system in Abruzzo and the use of French oak barriques for refining Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. Read more
