Baron Philippe de Rothschild
Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA is one of the most renowned family businesses in the international wine industry. The company has made a name for itself by exporting Bordeaux AOC wines, such as the famous Mouton Cadet. In addition to its headquarters in the small town of Pauillac near Bordeaux and several wineries in western and southern France, the company is also active in Chile and the United States. Founded in 1933, the company is now managed by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and produces high-end wines.
The Rothschilds can already look back on a long and eventful history: Already around 1500, this name is mentioned in documents. In the XNUMXth century, the Jewish family became known and influential through their banking business.
Mayer Amschel Rothschild is considered the founder of the dynasty. Born in Frankfurt, he had several children who became respected businessmen. But the family was not only successful in the banking sector; since the 1853th and 1922th centuries, the name has also been linked to activities in the wine sector. With the purchase of Château Brane Mouton in 20 by a family member and the renaming in Mouton-Rothschild, a new tradition begins: in XNUMX, at the age of XNUMX, Baron Philippe takes over the château and the cellar from his father Henri.
In the 1930s, the limited company Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA was founded, which was managed by Philippe for many decades.
