Perrier Jouet
The story of Adélaïde Jouët begins in 1811, when he married Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and the two combined their common passions to give life to a new vision of Champagne, laying the foundations for the birth of the Maison Perrier-Jouët and his philosophy. She was just 18 years old and he was 25 when they founded their Maison which, immediately, thanks to the 10 hectares of vineyard owned by the Perrier family, became famous for the production of excellent Champagne also for the foresight of the two who, over time, acquired some lands in those areas that would become famous as Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs, in Avize and Cramant.
Adélaïde and Pierre-Nicolas' constant search for perfection guided them through all phases of Champagne production, starting from the harvest of the grapes, which were not used when deemed mediocre. Likewise, as a prevention against imitations, Perrier-jouët it was a pioneer in the fight against counterfeiting, becoming the first Maison de Champagne to indicate the origin of its wines by adding the Cru and the vintage year on its bottles.
It was a great innovation for its time. With the same passion for excellence, Adélaïde received clients and guests in Epernay, creating, thanks to constant work to enhance the brand, what for the time could be defined as one of the best commercial networks in the world. Precision and the pursuit of excellence were fundamental for Adélaïde.
If the harvest, as has sometimes happened, did not prove to be up to the needs of the Maison, the production of the vintage was not authorized: quality is always the absolute priority and there is no room for compromises. Adélaïde's love for Art Nouveau found an echo in French Art Nouveau and forever sealed a deep bond for the Maison Perrier-Jouët.
Today you say Champagne Perrier-Jouët and you think of the iconic bottle of Cuvee Belle Epoque, embellished with the design of the Japanese anemone created by Émile Gallé – one of the most brilliant and famous artists of the Art Nouveau movement – in 1902.
This important artistic collaboration has, in fact, marked the beginning of an eternal partnership between the French Maison and art, which still strongly inspires its production style today. An extraordinary bottle, a true homage to nature as a source of inspiration, in which the spirals of white flowers echo the floral and delicate style of the wine, becoming the emblem of the Maison.
In fact, Perrier-Jouët bubbles stand out for their floral character, absolute elegance and rare aromatic finesse where Chardonnay prevails. The cellars, a true Eden, preserve, together with other exceptional cuvées, the oldest vintage of the Maison, a Perrier-Jouët 1825. In a completely natural way, the search for perfection has always led Perrier-Jouët to the most prestigious.
In royal courts, such as those of Napoleon III or Queen Victoria. Or in the princely ones. Among the fans of Perrier-jouët Belle Epoque, with its iconic bottle, there were Queen Victoria, Baudelaire, Princess Grace of Monaco.
