Giacomo Conterno
The history of Giacomo Conterno winery began more than a century ago, precisely in 1900. We are in Piedmont, in Monforte d'Alba, when the homonymous founder Giacomo Conterno gave life to what is today one of the most appreciated and renowned wineries not only in Italy but in the whole the world. He immediately began to establish himself thanks to his experience gained with his parents; subsequently he will be a great example for his son Giovanni who is left to manage the family business.
It's 1912 and wine is sold in barrels and demijohns, but Giovanni Conterno is determined to renew this age-old tradition and during this year decides to bottle Barolo for the first time.
Giovanni loved his work and dedicated all his available time to it, without forgetting to pass on his skill and passion to his son Giacomo. It was he, the founder's grandson, who in 1934 created the most famous and appreciated wine: the Barolo Monfortino Giacomo Conterno.
A wine that immediately conquers the experts, destined to remain forever in the memory of enthusiasts. After the great success of Barolo Monfortino, Giacomo Conterno purchased 14 hectares of vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba: from that moment on only grapes from their production would be used.
La Giacomo Conterno winery has all the credentials to be called legendary, an Italian jewel to be preserved and handed down over time.
