Fattoria dei Barbi
Fattoria dei Barbi is truly one of the great wineries of Montalcino, and also the company that has produced Brunello wine continuously for the longest time. Brunello is a monovarietal Sangiovese wine first created by the Biondi-Santi family at the end of the 1892th century. Together with Biondi-Santi, Fattoria was also one of the first wineries to be founded in this region, and they began producing Brunello as early as XNUMX.
Fattoria dei Barbi was also a pioneer in other aspects; the first Montalcino company to export wines to France, in 1817; the first to introduce the mail order sale of Brunello, in 1832; the first in the area to start developing wine tourism, in 1960; and, as well as being the first local company to switch to organic farming, the Fattoria added its famous Brusco dei Barbi to the 'Super Tuscan' range as early as 1969…
Currently the owners, the Cinelli Colombini family, focus their attention on Brunello, one of the most valuable wines. Brunello from Fattoria dei Barbi, a transparent wine with its beautiful characteristic brown color, delights the nose with notes of blackberries and black cherries against a background of aromatic herbs, damp earth and undergrowth.
More evolved aromas then appear, such as spices, cinnamon and liquorice. Opulent, powerful, warm and pleasantly enveloping in the mouth, it offers incredibly silky and well-integrated tannins, never harsh. A versatile and universal Brunello with an enchanting balsamic finish.
