Domaine Capitain Gagnerot
Domaine Gagnerot was founded in 1802. In 1864 Marie, Jean-Baptiste's only daughter, married François Capitain, a wine merchant, originally from Champlitte. Together, Jean-Baptiste and François founded Domaine Capitain-Gagnerot. After the phylloxera crisis that devastated the Burgundian vineyard from the 1870s to the 1880s, Marie, now a widow, decided to preserve the domaine and replant the vines. From then on, the succession takes place from father to son.
After World War II, Roger Capitain inherited 3 hectares of vineyards and a wine business. His two sons, Patrice and Michel, took over the domaine upon his retirement.
Today, the domaine includes 16 hectares of vineyards in full ownership, and it is Pierre-François and Delphine, Patrice's children, who direct its destiny, supported by their wives.
