Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons
The Rupert family
Dr Anton Rupert - the namesake of these wines - was not only the founder of a global trading empire, but he was also a committed conservator. Today, the Rupert family is passionate about world-class wine making in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley and owns three other wine estates:
- La Motte wine estate
- L'Ormarins wine estate
- Anthony Rupert Wyne
The Rothschild family
In this family, it was Baron Edmond de Rothschild who took up the vision of his great-grandfather James de Rothschild and continued to expand the wine portfolio. Today, the Rothschild family is known for its flagship wines and owns vineyards in the villages:
- France
- Spain
- Argentina
- New Zealand
- South Africa
In 1997, Dr. Anton Rupert of South Africa and Baron Edmond de Rothschild of France jointly founded Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons. The brand stands for three distinct wines.
The varietal white wine - Baroness Nadine - known after the wife of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The flagship Bordeaux blend - named after the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild - and the classic red cuvée - one of the best-selling and sought-after South African red wines in its class.
