Meierer
The Meierer winery is located in the quiet municipality of Kesten, in the heart of the Moselle wine region, famous for producing the best expressions of Riesling. The history of the Meierer family is ancient and the first documents certifying their winemaking activity from a production point of view date back to 1767. There are 7 hectares of vineyards and they develop on typical hilly terrain with steep slopes. Although the yield of grapes per hectare in the region is regulated at 120 quintals, at Meierer it never exceeds 70 quintals, confirming the continuous qualitative research that characterizes this producer.
In addition to the two in Kesten, where the winery is located, the remaining five hectares are located in the Paulinsberg and Paulinshofberg Crus and in total are divided into 28 parcels individually analyzed and treated according to the different peculiarities.
The new generation of the Meierer family is represented by Matthias who, in addition to continuing with traditional production, is studying new expressions of riesling, for example by collaborating with the infamous Danish craft brewery Mikkeller.
History, tradition, but also innovation linked to constant quality make this "weingut" a little jewel in an area that you cannot help but love.
