Domaine Dujac
Domaine Dujac: In 1967, Jacques Seysses bought a small domaine based in Morey-St-Denis and renamed it with his name. Since he knew established celebrities such as Gérard Potel (his apprentice to him), Charles Rousseau, Bernard Clair-Daü, Henri Gouges and Aubert de Villaine, he began his career as a winemaker.
The first vintage, 1968, was one of the worst of the twentieth century, for which grapes and wines were sold out in bulk, but 1969 was a turnaround (a legendary vintage for pinot noir), putting the domaine on the map permanently. In 2000 he founded, together with his father, the négociant business known as Dujac Fils & Père.
Today Domaine Dujac is a family business, with his wife, their first two children and their spouses also involved. In the following years, the domaine expanded significantly when some vineyards became available to be taken over. The peak was reached with the purchase of some exceptional plots from Domaine Thomas-Moillard in 2005.
Although Dujac wines generally don't have a very deep color, they make up for it with their exceptional aroma and backbone. They are real "vins de garde", capable of lasting several decades. Domaine Dujac has seven grands crus in its portfolio!
Today it is one of the most important domains of Burgundy. Their flagships are: Le Chambertin Grand Cru (0.29 Ha), Romanée St.-Vivant Grand Cru (0.17 Ha), Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (0.59 Ha), Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (1.95 Ha), Clos St.-Denis Grand Cru (1.47 Ha), Echézeaux Grand Cru (0.69 Ha), Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru (0.70 Ha) and their latest acquisition: Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Malconsorts" (1,57 Ha), together to various other flagship vineyards throughout the Côte de Nuits.
