Chateau Haut Beausejour
Château Haut-Beausejour was created by the Château Picard and Château Beausejour estates. In 1992, the oenologist Jean-Claude Rouzaud discovers the estates and brings them to the Louis Roederer group, of which he is president. They were the first vineyards acquired by Louis Roederer in Bordeaux. 20 hectares have been selected from the vineyards that today supply the grapes for the wines of Château Haut-Beausejour.
Today, Nicolas Glumineau manages Château Haut-Beausejour, along with four other estates. The Médoc, a peninsula on the west coast of France, consists geologically of alluvial soils with a high proportion of gravel, limestone and clay deposits. Here we distinguish different types of soil, the so-called terraces, whereby the wines of Château Haut-Beausejour grow on loam with a gravel cover. The commune of Saint-Estèphe is located on the Gironde, which means that the climate is slightly maritime and offers the grapes excellent ripening conditions.
