Bodega Numanthia
Firmly rooted in the history and terroir of Spain, the Bodega Numanthia estate is the birthplace of powerful and intense wines, iconic embodiments of the prestigious Designation of Origin Toro.
The name of the estate dates back to Roman times. In 134 BC, the inhabitants of the ancient city of Numantia resisted the invading Romans, choosing to die rather than surrender. This noble heritage has characterized the Numanthia terroir: its vines are robust and resistant, able to withstand the extreme climatic conditions of the region - harsh winters and hot summers - as well as the attacks of phylloxera, which destroyed most of the part of the vineyards of Europe.
The result of this legendary resistance was the survival of some small lots of vineyards, which the local families took care of with great attention, who kept them over the years, aware of the extraordinary value of their land. Located in the north-west of Spain, on clay plateaus and slopes, these ancient vineyards produce intense and powerful vintage wines year after year.
The wines are produced exclusively from the Spanish grape Tinta de Toro and the bunches are left to mature completely, in order to be particularly concentrated and rich in aromas. They are the highest expression of the Spanish Bull Designation of Origin.
